Mumbai, May 10 -- He played Dr Rajit Ratha in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). But now, we have learnt that if things go well, Irrfan Khan will portray one of the villains in the third instalment (scheduled for a 2016 release) of the superhero franchise.
Irrfan is in the running to play one of the Sinister Six, a group of villains that is hinted at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. And apparently, the actor has already been asked to play a part, which is being described as an important one.
"Irrfan and Marc (Webb; director) share a great rapport ever since he worked in the first film. And although his role was a small one, Marc has been keen to work with Irrfan again. He has been approached for the part but things are yet to be finalised," says an insider.
When contacted, Irrfan, who has just returned from the US after having shot for Jurassic World, says, "I don't know about it (this role). No one has approached me for the film yet. Their film is still in the theatres. I think they will finalise the script and decide other things later."
When we contacted the studio (India division that is behind the franchise), one of the spokesperson's said it was "too early to comment on something like this."
